It’s no surprise that apart from my general black and white go-to attire, I’m stocked up on the basic essentials. Vintage tee, moto jacket, worn in- denim and the perfect black boots, anyone? As we sift through our closets on the daily while repeatedly saying to ourselves “I have nothing to wear,” we forget that we can make a killer outfit even with pieces on repeat. And as part of my new year resolution: to simplify and destress whenever possible, this keeps to that promise and makes life a whole lot easier.

To wrap up 2014, I’ve made a compilation of my top 3 favorite trends of the year. Looking back, these were my favorite in terms of practicality, functionality and overall just fun. What were your favorite trends of the year?
Oversized everything (via Celine)
There’s nothing better than feeling comfortable in oversized sweaters, coats, pants more all throughout the year. Bring on the holiday feasts!
A hint of Western (via Kenneth Cole)
We tip our hats to KCole for their western inspired attire as the clothes inspire us to pair workwear with weekend wear in a fun, relaxed, yet edgy way.
Sneakers & Sportswear (via multiple designers)
Sneakers & Sportswear practically go hand in hand. This year was major in terms of trading in your heels for a pair of slip on’s or snagging the newest pair of Nike’s or Adidas as part of the everyday attire. (I opt for a more minimalist look, that of Common Projects) Thankful for this trend as a NY resident!
Additionally, the sportswear trend took off this year. From Net-a-porter’s launch of Net-a-sporter to Alexander Wang’s H&M collab, this is only the beginning of bringing complete functionality to our everyday lives and wardrobes.

Today marks the first official day of Spring. For the first time, I couldn’t be happier for a hopeful change in weather now that I’m living in New York. Stripping the abominable thick layers down to minimal clothing and introducing the brights back into my wardrobe is definitely something to look forward to. But of course, I have to kick off spring with some (more) classic black and white pieces first!
In addition, the end of winter and beginning of spring marks a tremendous highlight in my life as my first job takes off at Harper’s BAZAAR magazine as the Sample and Imagery Coordinator.
What an unbelievably humbling experience, I must say, to have the opportunity to work around such innovative minds. What a positive year it will be!
Bonne semaine !
